I see another loooong table for

Nellie's Barn Sale!

Truly a Don’t Miss This Sale!” and I

would ♥♥♥♥ to see you there!

But in the meantime—here’s that table I’m working on!

Which started with some LONG pallet boards, some old farm table legs from my stashes ~and THEN I decided to add a cool drawer into the mix!

a pile of pallet boards, some old farm table legs...

....then add a drawer to the mix...

The drawer was a deep, center desk drawer that I cut down!

REsizing a deep drawer~

I laid out the boards to get a feel for how DEEP and how LONG I would ultimately make this table.  12″ deep × 5’6″ long.

~it's actually very simple construction!

Table construction is actually very simplistic!

  1. I laid out (and cut) the boards to determine width and length,
  2. found CENTER to figure in the drawer and used a jig saw to cut the drawer contour.
  3. I ran boards through the table saw to cut aprons to depth to match the drawer, and~
  4. cut and mitered those specifically to support the long table top boards and drawer.
  5. Pictured below~I cut and contoured a support for the drawer to hold it in place and let it glide in and out, and,
  6. lastly, I added the legs!

Today I work on the finishes~

I like the unexpected notch in the center!

~or should I say  take 3  ?

my loooong tables

–the 1st and 2nd of my  Loooong skinny tables–

Awww, that’s it now for the wonderfully curved, double corner freebie table legs.

I was in the antique mall trying to figure out which way to shift and shuffle things to fit in this 2nd table—but someone bought it on the spot!  I left with the cash in my pocket—a GOOD problem!

Saturday I pulled more legs from my stashes, another of those super long pallets and got to work on a “replacement” table.

*I was hoping to take you through the steps of making this but I didn’t get the best step-by-step pictures.  Sorry.  I WILL come back to that if you’re interested.  Tables are really easy to make!

Looong skinny table #3

constructing another looong skinny tableBasically~

I DEconstructed another looong pallet, selected which boards I would use where and laid out the table top (good side down).

–In the picture above–

#1- I used a framing square to mark out an overhang and location of the legs AND clamped it down as a “catch” to hold each leg in position while I screwed them into place.

#2- Each leg was secured firmly in place with “pocket screws” from the two inner sides.

#3 and #4- The aprons were glued, tacked in place from “underneath,” and screwed in on an angle to each leg.

Same methods for the long aprons.  AND I added center cleats for extra support.

5ft 6″ long × 10¼” deep

~some packing info on the pallets

I’m kinda’ digging the printing on some of the pallets and may keep it!

Stain and paint are in the works, more tomorrow~
