O-m-g! How I LUV shield back chairs!
Yes, I know– More. Chairs. My weakness.
St Vinnie’s ½ price sale was this morning!
$15 $7.50 each!
There’s a particular project I’ve been wanting to do for a while requiring 3 chairs. But until now, I just haven’t found the right candidates!
I love the uncommon design of this shield–which presents the 1st dilemma.
To upholster the shield backs, or leave them exposed–??
So, here’s what I want to do— join these 3 chairs together making a banquette!
And I would love your help designing it!
Here, just out of the car and lined up to show you–the Head Chair will be demo’d into parts for this project. And, I’d like to re-use the arms.
#1. A straight line, 3 seat style.
A straight line presents much like a “sofa,” and I could reconnect the arms to the outsides–they’re clamped in place in this picture. It will have 4 front legs.
#2. With a slight curve, no arms.
#3. The same slight curve, with arms.
#4. A tight curve, without arms— 2 seats.
#5. Tight curve, with arms.
Higher view to better show the curve (the former seats set in place for visual). I’ll probably adjust the center shield back height, and there will ultimately be only 3 front legs.
So what do you think?
Which way should I go?
I’m sharing this project with these really great blogs!
