My second brother and sis-in-law had two boys when Aleigha came!
And they let this crazy designer-Auntie go c’RAzy in her little bedroom!
♥ I painted the room pink —of course!
♥ Made a custom valance/corona, secured it directly to the ceiling, and made sheers appliqued with tiger lilies to drape down the crib and puddle on the floor –where I laid a very large braided chenille rag-rug!
♥ Found a baby 4 arm chandelier to hang and added pink Italian crystals.
♥ Shabby-chic’d an old family toy chest and made a seat cushion from leftover valance fabric.
♥ Found, and painted, a round child’s table in an extremely whimsical style—I smiled and giggled through the entire paint job! Found two old kindergarten chairs—shabby-chic’d them white, added pink stripes and “Aleigha” and “friend” to their backs. Sewed little seat covers (from the valance fabric) adding lace skirts, and pink ribbons tied into bows at the back.
♥ I found an old bentwood coat rack, took out the center section, shrinking it down to 46″. Filled it with little hats and purses and a pink boa.
♥ I even found a miniature silver tea set! But something was still missing.
And doesn’t every little girl need a china cabinet?
And how ’bout a hoosier? ; )
1920’s style. Simple pale celery and white color scheme with a poppy counter. (Plexi) glass doors keep her china in view, removable silverware tray in the center of 3 little drawers, old wooden wheels, vintage button knobs.
The China cabinet.
“Ooooh la la!” says it all!
Scalloped side panels, whimsical paint, holds china and books.
Yeah, the polkadotted knobs are reproduction, but they’re soooo cute!
**Both cabinets were “loaned” to me just for pictures!
(Aleigha eventually got a little sister–Rachel!)
