A family friend -and expert in all things Oz- has flown in from New York this week to help us go through my Uncle’s private collection of Wizard of Oz memorabilia.
So my week has shifted from furniture projects to riffling through more “storm damage” and a veritable treasure hunt. Uh huh~we’re actually finding money sent to my uncle left in the envelopes they came in!
(he sent them their stuff, I guess out his own money since their money is still in the envelope-??)
We found this confederate money someone sent to pay for something. . .
Mom and Michael are PAINstakingly going through EVERY. THING. while I continue making trips to fetch more boxes fOr them to go through. A BiG jOb folks. No kidding.
We will be offering this extensive, and (in many cases) rare collection for sale through a new blog,
~his passion for all things Oz!
My late Uncle was a very smart, interesting, saSSy, and humorous man—and I hope you’ll check it out (and subscribe) to see the mANy cool things that will be offered for sale, and laugh over the crazy antics of my late Uncle! *btw~HE is the “Freddy” in Freddy & Petunia!
I have several projects waiting for my attention that I can’t wait to get started on—but THIS project is taking over the week! ~Bear with me, pretty please!
Btw~what’s your favorite part of the movie?!? *which will be 75yrs old in 2014!
Mine was when the Coroner pronounced that the wicked witch was not only MEREly dead–she was really quite sincerely dead! As a kid, I remember being so impressed, “WoW, THAT’s dead!”
And sadly, although my Uncle knew the actor (Meinhardt Raabe) personally, I never got to meet him.
