……Did I say “lately?”  My focus has been so broken since mid summer.  Sooooooo many things going on— multiple trips taken, family activities, family events, a charity event, a flea market to work, [babysitting] for a brother and sister-in-law who spent 10 days back packing parts of Europe.  And, presently, helping bff pack up, organize, and move her office, many books, many misc, and a family room into a newly fantastically finished basement lower-level!

So— I’ve only been “thinking” a lot about that vintage record cabinet I found on my Atlanta trip.

Too much time “thinking” about   “what design” has made for a real tug-of-war decision.  Although I think I’ve finally decided on the structure— her finishes and name?  I’m still thinking!

About a week ago, I saw a little window of opportunity to begin working on her—between comings-and-goings!  And, can I tell you—I felt like a stranger in my own studio   :  /   and felt almost nervous running the table saw after so long an absence, but, safety-safety-safety!

As I said, it was only a little window.  Her door is off, some salvaged appliques are cut down and fixed where the original were missing, and the interior is gutted.  I’ll share more pictures when I finally really get back to her.

My second brother and sis-in-law had two boys when Aleigha came!

And they let this crazy designer-Auntie go -crazy-  in her little bedroom!

I painted the room pink –of course!

Made a custom valance/corona, secured it directly to the ceiling, and made sheers appliqued with tiger lilies to drape down the crib and puddle on the floor –where I laid a very large chenille rag-rug!

Found a baby 4 arm chandelier to hang and added pink Italian crystals.

Shabby-chic’d an old family toy chest and made a seat cushion from leftover valance fabric.

Found, and painted, a round child’s table in an extremely whimsical style—I smiled and giggled through the entire paint job!  Found two old kindergarten chairs—shabby-chic’d them white, added pink stripes and “Aleigha” and “friend” to their backs.  Sewed little seat covers (from the valance fabric) adding lace skirts, and pink ribbons tied into bows at the back.

I found an old bentwood coat rack, took out the center section, shrinking it down to 46″.  Filled it with little hats and purses and a pink boa.

I even found a miniature silver tea set!  But something was still missing.

And doesn’t every little girl need a china cabinet?

How ’bout a hoosier?  —there you go.  ;  )

The Hoosier.

1920′s style.  Simple pale celery and white color scheme with a poppy counter top.  (Plexi) glass doors keep her china in view, removable silverware tray in the center of 3 little drawers, old wooden wheels, vintage button knobs.

The Chaina cabinet.

“Ooooh, la,la!” says it all!  Scalloped side panels, whimsical paint, holds china and books.

Yeah, the polkadotted knobs are reproduction, but they’re soooo cute!

**Both cabinets were “loaned” to me for pictures to share with you!

Thanks girls!

(Aleigha eventually got a little sister–Rachel!)

Finally, this

vintage record cabinet

will become another

Freddy & Petunia

makeover!  Watch for it!

~

I also found 4 great cabriole legs and made good connections for other unique parts to build with!

And finally back in the Chicago area at the Kane County flea market over this past weekend.  I was there to help my bf sell her crazy overflow of vintage furniture, accessories, mirrors/frames, garden/iron, and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on…!!!

As you can see, I got distracted!

*but can yo eVer really have too many trophy/loving cups/silver-?

Truly, a sickness. . .no vaccine.

You’ll see I also find another mini tea set for some little girl and a pair of tiny corbels for a future little cabinet!

Yes~another old frame! I love-love-love!

The silverware pictured at the top adds to my collection.  I love the hotel cutlery for sale, just not the price tag.  So I am having the fun of collecting and creating my own version!

It’s hard to stop….!
